One line (16 words)

Charisse Walker is an author, speaker, and coach, and the author of Flipping the Iceberg.

Short (55 words)

Charisse Walker is an author, speaker, and coach who helps people see the ninety percent of a relationship that sits below the surface. A mother of six and a former college director who taught interpersonal relationships to thousands of students, she wrote Flipping the Iceberg after her own divorce, first as advice to her own children.

Medium (115 words)

Charisse Walker helps men and women uncover the hidden patterns shaping their relationships. A mother of six, an entrepreneur, and a former college director, she spent years teaching interpersonal relationships and group dynamics to thousands of college students before writing Flipping the Iceberg: Discovering and Celebrating What Lies Beneath the Surface in Your Relationships.

The book came out of her own life: fifteen years of marriage, a divorce, and a second marriage that started rocky and held. Her signature iceberg metaphor invites readers to look at the limiting beliefs, unprocessed trauma, and inherited fears under the surface. Today she speaks, writes, and runs the four-week Flipping the Iceberg Workshop.

Long (210 words)

Charisse Walker is an author, speaker, and coach who helps people get to know themselves before they try to know anyone else. A mother of six, an entrepreneur, and a former college director, she taught interpersonal relationships and group dynamics to thousands of students, and is currently earning her Neuro-Linguistic Programming credential.

Her framework began in a kitchen. Her daughter asked why everyone loved her father and nobody could see the real him. Charisse answered that a person is like an iceberg: you see ten percent above the water and the ninety percent underneath is what decides everything. That conversation became Flipping the Iceberg, written first as advice to her own children and then widened to anyone tired of meeting a different person and ending up in the same relationship.

She is not a therapist and does not present the work as therapy. Her authority is lived: fifteen years of marriage, a divorce she came out of on friendly terms with her ex, a second marriage that started rocky and held, and years of professional study and teaching.

Her stated goal, in her own words: "My goal is to get people healed so they can make healthy decisions and then get to know the person they want to marry."

For Hosts

Interview questions that get the good answers

Ask any of these and she'll have somewhere real to go. Listed roughly in the order they build.

Opening the story

  • What was the conversation in the kitchen that started all of this?
  • Why an iceberg? What does the ten and ninety percent actually mean?
  • You wrote this first as advice to your own children. What did you want them to know that nobody told you?
  • You've said you knew at the altar that it was wrong, and you said yes anyway. What was happening in you in that moment?

The framework

  • FTI stands for Find, Transform, Intentionally Love. Walk me through those three.
  • What's the difference between a want and a need in a relationship, and why does confusing them wreck people?
  • What's the HAS method, and where did it come from?
  • How do you tell the difference between fear and actual intuition telling you something?

The harder questions

  • You're not a licensed therapist. Why should anyone take relationship guidance from you?
  • Everyone thought your ex was wonderful. What is it like to be the person nobody believes?
  • What do you say to someone who's already married and realizing they missed all of this?
  • What's the thing people get wrong about codependency?

Closing

  • What's in the second book that the first one didn't have room for?
  • If someone listening is lying in bed tonight feeling like they don't know who they are anymore, what's the first thing they do tomorrow?
  • Where should people find you?
