Charisse Walker, author of Flipping the Iceberg

The heart and voice behind Flipping the Iceberg

Charisse Walker helps men and women uncover the hidden patterns shaping their relationships. Drawing from decades of personal experience, leadership in education, and teaching, she encourages others to face their past, find their voice, and build a life rooted in self-worth, faith, and authenticity.

As a mother of six, entrepreneur, and former college director, Charisse understands the delicate balance between nurturing others and healing yourself. She brings years of teaching students, managing employees, studying relationships and human behavior, and coaching people to the work she shares.

Her signature iceberg metaphor invites readers to explore what lies beneath the surface of their lives, including limiting beliefs, unprocessed trauma, and inherited fears, as they move toward healthy love and meaningful connection.

In Flipping the Iceberg, Charisse shares a personal journey of self-discovery and the two secrets every person should uncover before saying “I do.” Her work invites courage, reflection, and a deeper understanding of yourself and your partner.

Today, Charisse speaks, writes, and coaches, guiding others to rewrite their story, trust their intuition, and walk in purpose, with or without a partner.

The Story Behind the Book

What lies beneath the surface

A conversation in her kitchen brought the iceberg metaphor into focus. The question was why people can seem one way at first and reveal something different over time. Charisse realized that what we initially see is only the part above the water; deeper understanding takes time, curiosity, and honest conversations.

Through her own experiences and years of teaching students, managing employees, studying, and coaching people, Charisse realized how many people struggle with the feeling that the person they married is different from the person they thought they knew. She began to see a shared need to understand what lies beneath the surface, both in ourselves and in the people we love.

That realization became the foundation of Flipping the Iceberg. Her goal is to help save marriages by guiding people to get to know themselves first, including the beliefs, expectations, and patterns they bring into a relationship, and then to get to know their spouse more deeply. Through a series of steps and thoughtful conversations, she helps couples explore what they may not yet understand about each other and use that understanding to build a stronger marriage.
